A spirit is an eternal being after the death of a human, these deaths are often tragic and rarely soul shattering. These turn Soul Mist into thick Cursed Energy which then develops into an immitation of their human body yet lacks any mortal flesh, bones or even physical restrictions.

A spirit is created when one dies in a state where heavy emotional residue (often negative) remains within the soul which condenses from soul mist (soul essence) into Cursed Energy. This exchange happens before the final spark of one’s brain at the moment of death.

During the final spark of the deceased’s brain, the negative charge from that spark gets attracted to the protons within their surroundings which enhances the spark and also charges the metaphysical brain of their new spirit form.

A spirit’s metaphysical brain is a figure of 8 where the cross section is integrated into where a brain would be on the spirit’s CE construct. The left side of it would be the being’s individual past (or if they operate on one of the two past dimensions then that would also be included in a dual channel or tri channel layout). The right side of their metaphysical brain would process reality and their present situation (if a spirit has access to one if not all 4 future dimensions then this section is capable of up to quad channel operation). The cross section is where they all intertwine and allows the spirit to be able to retain their memory also can allow the spirit to apply their personality into present situations. This system also means that spirit memory is inherently far more accurate and faster than human memory.

Then beyond their metaphysical brain would be their direct CE connection, modern CE would go through a filter by SMC (where all the modifications would be applied) and Akari would have the original direct connection. both go into their conjoint singularity (spiritual domain) and then be dispersed around their CE construct. This connection starts at dimension -12 even for modern spirits and perhaps is the only thing that remains the same as Akari.

Measuring CE of a spirit takes into account their death cause, powers and purpose. These factors are most often interlinked as a spirit's purpose is the variable that defines the powers of a spirit, as they would manifest abilities that aid them in fulfilling their purpose.

Death cause: The more soul-shattering their death is, the denser their Cursed Energy would become, which makes their CE content higher.

Power: Their powers play into this by being the main consumer of Cursed Resonance, which is the extractable energy of CE that gets refilled via the spirit's unique feeding system. This should be taken into account by their power's consumption as it affects their longevity and range of power use.

Purpose: Their purpose for existence is a required baseline for a spirit to remain alive within MSA as non-purposeful spirits are often exorcised as their CE density depletes without purpose. This also links to their powers; a spirit's powers should be linked to their purpose and define their spirit type.

Cursed Resonance is the extractable energy form of Cursed Energy, like humans burn calories and add calories via feeding on meals and drinks. A spirit inherits a unique feeding sequence that relates to their powers, personality and purpose, which refuels their Cursed Resonance in various ways (E.g.: Akari feeds on sinned souls).

0 → 100%: Surface-level usable Cursed Resonance which is consumed by their powers.

0 → 100%: This is where the spirit begins getting into what we call Cursed Resonance debt which attacks their structural level. In this state a spirit would be using their own Cursed Energy that holds their form together. This is shown by cracking in their physical form, which isn't theatrical flair but instead the spirit's construct visibly cannibalising itself.

-100 → -150%: This level is where a spirit enters their Core Nexus layer. This is the core of their CE that maintains their form and metaphysical brain. Once this begins to deplete, the spirit will slowly lose coherence of themself.

CE is carried from dimension -12 through a permanent connection which would normally flow one way from D-12 to the spirit, but when a spirit burns through all 3 layers of Cursed Resonance debt, they invert the pressure gradient, meaning at -150% the connection stops feeding the spirit and instead collapses inward creating a black hole-like suction after an internal micro-supernova. This pulls the remaining CE construct back into D-12 and their metaphysical brain collapses into itself, which dissolves all connections the spirit had to dimensions and their spiritual domain.

A spiritual domain is within a spirit’s metaphysical brain, the empty space inside the infinity loop structure is not empty at all, it’s a vacuum tunnel connected to one node. This conjoint singularity is where the spirit’s domain is housed. In their domain they will exist as their happiest form which may be during life or perhaps as spirit depending on their story. This realm will distort reality perception the longer they remain in the realm for anyone who is not the spirit themself. The spirit can allow the people they want inside their domain which would alter the distortion mechanics of the domain into becoming a mirror of how welcome the visitor is in their domain. How spirits access it is also by meditating for on average 0.505s (Akari can complete the action in 0.245s).

In the event that a spirit’s domain is trespassed by whatever means, the reaction of the domain itself depends on the spirit’s volatility. The mechanism of defence would be the same at its core which is when the domain detects an alternate frequency compared to the spirit’s frequency it will cause an electrical reaction attracted by the the electrical signals of a human or metaphysical brain resulting in a smite sensation which causes reality distortion at varying strengths and different cognitive layers. However this is the first initiation, the next moments are where the true rebelling occurs. After the smite the trespasser will be engulfed in CE specifically designed to cause further cognitive disorientation by overloading their brain and causing varying strain. However some volatile spirits and most notedly Akari Nakamura have a more unpredictable system. For example, Akari’s domain is noted to disorientate victims and also toy with them by pulsing in unpredictable forms in an engulfing ring of pure Cursed Energy.

SMC is able to suppress a spirit by applying additional filters to their connection from D-12 (CE abyss). This alters the aging of a spirit and their vessel by forcing out more of the age preservation properties of Cursed Energy which allows them to be able to keep a spirit like Akari at the vessel age of 15 for unnaturally longer. However such limits are able to be broken. For example, she is able to break through it however only with a certain strength of bonding with a human (love interest). This would make her stable enough to not be heavily destabilised to the sudden exposure to re-aging.
